The things we cannot do...
I cannot cry
Because I don't want people
To ask me 'Why' or 'What's wrong?'
I have to smile
for fear that people
will see the emotion hidden
by secrets and lies

This is not a love letter.
It's not a reminder of midnight stargazing, kissing under our bright yellow umbrella, witching hour phone calls, or slow dances. Because, my dearest, everyone knows that those are all so cliche like forgotten lace Valentines, broken promises, afternoon walks through the park, and a bouquet of a dozen thornless, dewy, bright, perfect red roses.

Bitter salt with pain
Harder to breathe
Hands feel the cold, dry touch
Sight darkens and blurs
Body numbs from the silhouette
Haunting stains on my thoughts

I like "I know I don't know all the answers" -- The line break after I know really makes the phrasing pop out, lovely! I like the title of this one a lot too. (:
